Each year Ms. Naomi offers monthly Parent Workshops. These workshops aim to connect parents with their fellow parents, through the sharing of ideas and personal and community exploration into parenting and care. The navigation of parenting teenagers without the support of parental peers can be difficult and isolating. The hope is that these workshop spaces offer a safe and creative space to connect, relax and grow.
Each workshop is thematic in nature, allowing the parents to focus on a specific area of thought and subject matter. Occasionally it may include an art directive, like the art therapy we over the scholars. All workshops are highly interactive and it’s always ok to just observe and be present.
Prior themes have included: “Supportive Independence: offering enough space to increase adolescent autonomy, ” “Breaking Through Burnout and Creating Boundaries,” and “Healthy Limitations.”
“None of this work can happen successfully without parental involvement and connection. Throughout the year the Wellness Program will be offering workshops for families so they can all come together and discuss their needs and concerns with other parents.”

“This March I facilitated our monthly Parent Therapeutic Workshop … in person! The focus was on “Self Care for the Care Giver,” and parents were able to gather together and share ideas, thoughts, and personal perspectives on self-care and making time to get deserved rest. Through conversation, connection and art-making, our amazing parents built cohesion, and community and gathered and shared resources. Looking forward to the next one.”
