Thank you for your interest in supporting our scholars. We would not be able to do our work without the support of volunteers, as you are partners and co-deliverers of our services. We need our communities to share our vision and take action to empower our scholars.
During the school year we have several programming events and other opportunities that come up where we could use additional support. We believe in connecting our scholars with inidividuals they can look up to or relate to in any way.

Volunteering for Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York requires an application and interview, and most positions require a background screening.
WAYS TO CONNECT & SERVE
ACADEMIC TUTOR
If you would like to become a tutor we offer virtual and in-person opportunities. We usually need tutors for the following subjects:
Math – Algebra, Geometry
Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology
Language: Spanish
COLLEGE PROCESS VOLUNTEERS
Help our scholars prepare for college by assisting them with their personal statements, Common App supplement essays, resumes, navigating the financial aid process, mock interviews and accompanying them on college campus visits.
SATURDAY PROGRAMMING VOLUNTEER
Once a month (usually the 3rd Saturday), scholars are required to participate in a BHGH staff-run Saturday program that focuses on a specific topic. Topics include Career Day, College Day, Life Skills Day, Visual and Performing Arts Day, and much more. If you enjoy conducting engaging workshops geared toward young adults and their developmental needs, volunteer to be a presenter or facilitator for one of these Saturday programs!
"EXPLORE NEXT DOOR" ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
Scholars are encouraged to take advantage of the rich, cultural tapestry that is New York City by participating in a variety of extracurricular activities offered to them. Accompany our scholars to performances, screenings, conferences, dialogues, exhibitions, and workshops in a multitude of areas including sports, arts, sciences, and the humanities.
"GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER?" GUEST
Join us for dinner at LaSalle Hall as a guest in our intimate dinner series. Guests share with scholars their stories and journey on how they became the person they are today with messages of encouragement, perseverance and determination.
COVER TO COVER BOOK CLUB FACILITATOR
Our book club, Cover-to-Cover, takes place in 6 weeks cycles, 3-4 times a year. Books are selected and assigned to scholars based on their grade level and topics covered in their respective service-learning courses. As a facilitator, you will guide discussions on relevant themes and topics covered in the novels in order to foster core literacy skills among our scholars and infuse a love of reading beyond the classroom. Each cycle culminates in a presentation from each reading group, presented in front of the Boys Hope Girls Hope community.
