Convocation 2014

It's the start of a new year at BHGHNY! Scholars are ready to go back to Cristo Rey Brooklyn and Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and to kick it all off, we had our annual convocation to celebrate the scholars and get them excited for the 2014-2015 school year.

It kicked off with a warm welcome from Executive Director Brad Zervas and the Invocation by BHGHNY senior scholar, Stéphan Pemberton. The theme for the evening quickly became all about a clean slate for the new year.

We also took time to honor two of our highest performing students from the Summer Enrichment Academy (SEA). Adrianna Sweeney and Jesus Cortorreal were presented with certificates a cash prize, and a new book from the Dean of SEA, Caela Carter.

Our 2014-2015 prefects were next to be acknowledged. Becoming a prefect is a great honor at BHGHNY and we believe we've chosen a very deserving group this year. Already, they have performed as leaders to their peers and now they have earned a title to match their roles.

This year's convocation was full of special moments, including the announcement that Brad Zervas will be retiring from BHGH in December and Malick Fall, our current Chief Academic Officer, will be taking over the position. We are so grateful for the time Mr. Zervas has given us and wish him all the best in his exciting plans for the future. We also welcome Mr. Fall's promotion and look forward to the leadership he will bring to our scholars.

Here's to another great year at BHGHNY!
