The 2014 NYC Mayor's Cup Wrestling Championship

The event brings together the city’s best male high school wrestlers from the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL), Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA), and independent schools in a two-day tournament taking place on January 25th-26th. On January 25, six of our scholars (accompanied by our Community Resources Coordinator, Mr. Huston) assisted in the preparation and execution of the tournament. The young men greeted patrons, checked in athletes, handed out t-shirts, and set up visuals. This is the second NYC Mayor’s cup event BHGHNY has participated in and we are hoping to maintain this relationship in the long term. In all, the scholars completed a total of 30 hours of service during this event.

Monsignor Farrell won their 9th straight overall team title, Adis Radoncic won his third individual crown, and Poly Prep (Independent Schools) and Brooklyn Tech (Public Schools) both topped their divisions for the second straight year.
