Staff and Scholars Leadership Retreat

In preparation for dorm move-in and the first day of school, our Staff and Student Leadership Council spent three days away from the hustle and bustle of NYC to plan and organize residential programming for the upcoming year.  In the Poconos, our program leaders were able to collaborate with our student leaders to not only create a plan for beginning our new student leadership initiative, our Student Leadership Council, but were also able to start brainstorming and organizing our student-led dorm programs - such as our Dorm Cup, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Potluck Dinner, Student Leadership Committee meetings and monthly awards ceremonies.

Along with the hard work put in to planning for the year, our staff and student leaders were able to engage in great leadership and team-building activities, including games and sessions led by Trevor Jaha, our retreat leader, as well as more ad-lib activities like taking group runs, going to the local lake, and cooking each meal together.

Overall, Scholars and Staff were able to form new partnerships during this Retreat that will carry on throughout the year. We are excited to see what is to come from these new ideas and can proudly say the Retreat was a huge success!
